The administration backed unity ticket held their rally at the Bren Guiao coliseum last week with Senator Lito Lapid leading the administration allies in GMA's home province.
Reelectionist Senator Ralph Recto surprised the crowd with his announcement that his wife, Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos-Recto will be running for governor of Batangas. Mayor Vi in her later interviews changed her mind to give way to his brother in law and vice-governor for 12 years of Batangas Ricky Recto. This was picked-up by national dailies and was in the papers the next day.

Cesar Montano, a late addition to the administration senatorial ticket was a crowd pleaser and he worked the crowd well.
There was an overflow crowd aided perhaps by the delegation of several local candidates of Lakas. Some of my companions were not even allowed to the coliseum or had to wait when others go out.
Most of the candidates speeches were dull, no new election issues, just more of the same promises of traditional politicians, some were even trying hard to speak the Pampango language.
Former Presidential Chief of Staff Mike "Tol" Defensor appeared to be the most moneyed among the candidates because he had the most campaign materials and even had t-shirts for giveaways.

Overall it was a successful and well funded rally, typical of of past senatorial rallies. However what i observed is that inspite of the jovial mood of the rally, people around who are aware of the political divide in Pampanga cannot help but feel the gloom in the eyes of Senator Lapid and Governor Mark Lapid, who was chosen to lead the adminsitration rally on the basis of the equity of the incumbent, gloom because the father and son team are facing the battle of their lives against a formidable opponent in the person of Board Member Lilia Pineda, wife of suspected gambling lord Rodolfo "Bong" Pineda of Lubao.

Well in this blog I remember the day in Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, remembering the crowd stuck up inside the edifice. We are ought to made a blog about this and I did. But I did not mention how stuck up the crowd was inside it was a good thing the Airconditioner was a blast.
That it accomodate to bring refreshing air inspite of the crowd. And a bad thing that I have not able to hear the president talk because we only stay there for few minutes. And yes, it was quite an experience knowing how TeamUnity loves the Pampanga region so much.
